How do I manually adjust my seat?

Having the correct driving position is as important for your safety as it is for comfort. To move forward or backward, simply pull and hold the lever under the front of the seat, slide to the desired position, and release. The lever at the front corner of the seat can be used to adjust the angle of the seat base. The forward most lever to the side of the seat adjusts the height. Whilst pulling up, use your body to add or remove pressure accordingly. Behind this lever is another, which controls the angle of the backrest. Again, hold the lever up while you set the perfect position then release. The small toggle switch can then be used to adjust the width of the backrest by pressing and holding in either direction.

How do I electronically adjust my seat?

Having the correct driving position is as important for your safety as it is for comfort. The seat controls are located on the side of the seat base, and provide full electronic adjustment of the various seat elements. Push and hold the horizontal switch forwards or backwards and the seat moves in the corresponding direction. The height of the seat can be changed by pushing down or pulling up the same horizontal switch, which can also be tilted to adjust the angle of the seat base. The small button in front of this extends or retracts the thigh support. The vertical switch can be moved forwards or backwards to adjust the position of the backrest, while moving this up or down adjusts the height of the headrest. The buttons within this vertical switch control the level of shoulder support provided by the upper section of the backrest, while the small toggle switch behind this widens or narrows the seat side supports. Your BMW is also equipped with enhanced lumbar support, which enables you to change specific areas of the backrest. The circular dial on the seat controls can be used to adjust the level of support in these areas. Once you’ve reached the perfect driving position, you can conveniently save it. Simply press the set button, which illuminates red, followed by pressing and holding either button 1 or 2 for a few seconds. Each driver can activate their saved seat configuration at the touch of a button. With the ignition on, just press and hold either button 1 or 2 which will automatically adjust the various seat elements to the saved position. The wing mirrors and steering column may also adjust, depending on the specification of the vehicle.

How do I manually adjust the steering wheel?

The steering column can be adjusted to ensure that the steering wheel is set to a comfortable position. When the car is parked in stationary, release the steering lever to the left of the steering column. You can adjust the column up and down as well as towards and away from you. Once the desired position has been set, hold the wheel in position and swing the lever back up until it’s locked in place.

How do I automatically adjust the steering wheel?

The steering column can be adjusted to ensure that the steering wheel is set to a comfortable position. When the car is parked in stationary, the steering wheel can be adjusted using the short stork to the left of the column, Press and hold the stork either up, down, towards or away from you until the desired position is reached. For additional convenience, if the vehicle is equipped with electric seats, the steering wheel position will be included in the saved seat settings; particularly handy if you have more than one regular driver of the car.

How do I personalise my settings?

Once you are familiar with your BMW’s general controls, it’s worth taking the time to configure the various settings in the car that can be tailored to your personal requirements. From the main menu, use the iDrive to select ‘Settings’*. Here, you can configure a range of preferences from the time and date to lights and key settings. Many of these personalised settings are automatically saved to the key fob, so if there is more than one driver you can each use a separate key and have your own personal settings automatically activated each time you drive the car. The settings can also be manually assigned to a driver profile by selecting ‘My Vehicle’ and ‘Driver profiles’.

*Applies to vehicles with Professional Navigation System only. For vehicles with Business Navigation, use the iDrive to select ‘My Vehicle’, where you can configure a wide range of vehicle and iDrive settings.
