Your BMW is equipped with a highly sophisticated, fully connected navigation system, which provides a wide range of techniques to enter information and tailor the guidance to suit your requirements. Firstly, you can send an address or destination to your BMW ahead of your journey using the BMW ConnectedDrive portal or BMW Connected App. It can then be accessed in the car from within your notifications. To manually enter a destination from within the vehicle, select ‘Navigation’ from the main menu or press the ‘NAV’ button on the iDrive controller. On the map screen, tilt the iDrive controller to the left and scroll up to select ‘Route Guidance’. You can choose how much detail you would like to enter, from a postcode or just the town or city name, to a full address with a street name and house number included. Within each section you have a range of options for how the information can be entered. You can use the iDrive to turn and select each character, use the touchpad on top of the iDrive to actually write each letter, speak the information using the voice assistant, or use the digital keyboard on the touchscreen. Once the required level of information is entered, simply scroll down and select ‘Start Guidance’. Alternatively, you can use your BMW’s connectivity and complete a points of interest search with the online feature returning live results from the Google database. The recent destination menu shows previous addresses, which can be reselected at the touch of a button, and from here, commonly visited locations can be saved as a favourite button. Simply highlight the destination with the iDrive, and press and hold the respective favourite button. The navigation guidance automatically stops when you reach your final destination. The guidance can also be manually stopped at any time by again selecting ‘Route Guidance’ from the left map menu and then ‘Stop Guidance’. Alternatively, simply ask for the guidance to be switched off by pressing the voice assistant button on the steering wheel and say ‘Stop Guidance’.
