British Vogue & BMW launch Future Creators Competition.

As part of their on-going partnership, BMW and British Vogue are proud to continue the Forces for Change initiative with the launch of the new Future Creators design competition. Its aim is to discover and hopefully springboard the next generation of fashion designers and jewellery makers, with three competition winners getting their work featured in British Vogue. Exclusively available to current or recent students of fashion or jewellery design, this is an incredible opportunity to launch an exciting new career.

The Future Creators competition draws inspiration from BMW's strong history in car design and the Joy of Innovation, which is clearly showcased in the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X range. Unveiled in 2023, this pioneering electric concept vehicle reimagines the driving experience; it features the latest technology, classic design details with modern flair, intuitive human-centric controls and the use of recycled and recyclable materials. It will become a reality as a new BMW production model in 2025.

"Championing emerging British design talent is important to me, so I’m delighted that British Vogue is launching this competition with BMW as part of Forces for Change to provide a launchpad for students and graduates."

YOUR CREATIVE CHALLENGE.

Using the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X range as your inspiration, we want you to create your own fashion or jewellery designs. In addition to being sustainable, clever and luxurious, it is important to showcase your unique design perspective and, in doing so, show how you are a true change-maker. Your submission can be in the form of anything you feel is appropriate, from a 3D model to a sketch. Please submit your creative vision with a short video of you telling us about your work and your studies to date, including any interests and inspirations that feed into your designs.

THE PRIZE.

Three winners will travel to Munich between 25-27 September to meet with the BMW design team. While in Munich, they will also take part in a British Vogue photoshoot for the December issue. Winners will then receive £5,000 to create their winning design, which will feature in British Vogue’s February 2025 issue, along with an online article and a supporting video.

THE PANEL.

Picking a winner will come down to a trio of distinguished creative minds. The panel includes Vogue’s contributing editor and fashion consultant, Julia Hobbs, and BMW’s senior designer for colour & material, Charlotte Kanters, who has worked on the BMW i range and the team developing the BMW Vision Neue Klasse X. Finally, the panel features Simone Rocha, who was named as Young Designer of the Year in 2014 and Womenswear Designer of the Year in 2016.
