As Official Partner of the Cannes Film Festival 2023, BMW celebrated the 76th Edition of this festival in spectacular fashion. BMW supplied a selection of over 200 fully electric vehicles, unveiled the innovative and luxurious new watercraft THE ICON, and premiered BMW Films latest short film 'The Calm'. It boasted Pom Klementieff (Guardians of the Galaxy series), Uma Thurman (Kill Bill series), and the new BMW i7 M70 xDrive* in leading roles. “We’re delighted to be able to continue our official partnership with the Cannes Film Festival,” says Jens Thiemer, Senior Vice President Customer & Brand BMW. “The festival is committed to becoming younger, more zeitgeisty and more digital, which makes this partnership the ideal platform for our luxury BMW products."
BMW FILM PREMIERE: THE CALM.
The Calm is a short film produced by BMW Films. It offers a healthy dose of Hollywood action on board the new BMW i7 M70 xDrive. Starring Pom Klementieff and Uma Thurman, the plot revolves around a pair of secret agents who have been summoned separately to a meet point in Cannes. Along with other locations, the film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival exclusively in the rear of the all-electric i7 luxury saloon, on the 31.3.inch panoramic display BMW Theatre Screen.
PRESENTING THE ICON.
BMW elevated the luxurious setting of the Cannes Film Festival by unveiling of THE ICON at the Port de Cannes. Developed and built by BMW in collaboration with boat maker TYDE, this innovative craft offers emission-free mobility on water and embodies yet another progressive interpretation of luxury.
THE ICON is the first battery-powered marine craft of its kind, supplied by BMW i, and once again shines a spotlight on BMW’s holistic journey to more sustainable mobility in tomorrow’s world.
BMW OFFERS ELECTRIC LUXURY.
As part of being an Official Partner, BMW was responsible for the shuttle service for the event, which took place at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in the town. The fleet of BMW models all had an electrified powertrain, allowing them to glide through the Cannes traffic in almost complete silence. The result was a genuine taste of serene luxury for the international guests, festival participants and VIPs.
