BMW M AT TRACKSIDE.

The BMW M Trackside was a must-do part of this year's Festival of Speed. There was so much to soak up. Guests enjoyed hanging out on The BMW Terrace Bar, browsing the M Shop, checking out the latest BMW Collection pieces, or testing their skills on the BMW Simulator. But of course, the real draw cards were the BMW models on display, which included the new BMW XM Label Red Edition, the new BMW i5 M60, the new M2 Coupé, and the 1975 3.0 CSL 'Batmobile' – just to name a few.

THE STABLE YARD.

In support of this were new experiences such as the relax and recharge areas with the latest charging capabilities, and the iVision area. Add to this, BMW's latest electric and hydrogen models, such as the iX5 Hydrogen, the luxurious i7; cool classics, including the uber-stylish 1972 1602e; and last but not least, the first-ever all-electric BMW i5*. There was plenty to experience.

THE STABLE YARD 2023 LINE-UP.

THE BMW 1602e.

Introduced at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games, the 1602e was used to shuttle VIPs and serve as support cars in various long- distance events like the marathon. It marked a huge step forward in progressing towards a viable electric car, fit for mass production.

THE BMW 525e.

The 525e came out at a time when fuel prices were high and the need for cars to be more economical was paramount. This was a vital step forward in progressing towards creating engines with greater fuel conversion efficiency.

THE BMW ACTIVE E.

Like its predecessor, the Active E was used at the Olympic Games at London in 2012. The Active E was born from the BMW project innovation team which later became known as’ BMW i’ and laid the foundation for subsequent all-electric BMW models that you drive today.

THE BMW 320d EFFICIENT DYNAMICS EDITION.

The 320d Efficient Dynamics Edition set new standards for us, boasting improved fuel consumption of 68.9mpg and lower C02 emissions than the series production car. This was debuted at the London 2012 Olympic Games as part of our lower-emissions fleet supporting the event.

THE BMW i3.

In 2013 the culmination of our research into electric engineering was launched and our first mass produced EV was available to buy. This established the BMW ‘i’ range with the goal of zero-emissions whilst driving.

THE BMW i8.

The i8 pioneered what’s possible when you combine our expert knowledge of petrol engines with our research into electric. The first hybrid super car we brought to market used carbon fibre to reduce weight, optimised aerodynamics and eDrive technology to create this modern classic.
