Petersham Nurseries is a stunning property located in Richmond (just a short drive away from Farnborough), with a beautiful outdoor / indoor restaurant with a food philosophy, which celebrates the seasons, glasshouse café, kitchen gardens and nursery. There is also a beautiful homeware shop full of brilliant antiquities.
A family-owned business, you can see everything is inspired by nature, the family’s Italian heritage and the principles of sustainability and ‘slow living’. Their ethos is fundamentally connected to nature. From their horticultural roots to the seasonality of their food. No detail is overlooked, sourcing responsibly across all departments, from the shop to the delicatessen, florist and restaurants and they even garden organically; offering sustainable alternatives to pest and disease control as well as peat-free composts.
Highlights from our lunch included courgette pizzette, slow roasted lamb, blood orange salad, freshly made pasta with seafood, and stunning desserts such as fig tart and the Chianti poached pear with seed crumble & vanilla ice cream.
This Richmond restaurant is predominately open during the day and is flooded by natural light. Each table was adorned with stunning flowers that are grown on-site in their cutting garden. The nursery and seed shop encourage guests to grow and enjoy British homegrown flowers and produce themselves. They even offer floristry workshops, pasta making classes and annual honey harvest events.
As a member of the Sustainable Restaurant Association, they have even introduced a number of inspiring ideas to help push themselves to be the best they can be when it comes to recycling and their carbon footprint. From aerobic food digesters in the kitchens to uniforms made from recycled bottles and even commissioning transport surveys to measure and monitor the travel impact of their customers.
