A recall is an action designed to address potential defects in products. A BMW recall can cover vehicles or components, accessories and parts. A recall is targeted at specific production range that has been identified as requiring review. We will always endeavour to explain why we are recalling a car when we contact owners. BMW operates all recalls in the UK in accordance with the DVSA codes of practice.
Owners of a car subject to a recall have a duty to ensure that it is completed at the earliest convenience.
For more information on the highway code and road safety, please refer to the UK Government website: https://www.gov.uk/browse/driving/highway-code-road-safety
What is a Technical / Service Action?
Service actions occur when a manufacturer has designed a component that enhances the overall quality of a vehicle.
My car has a recall. What should I do?
Our recall communication always includes a recommended next step. In most instances that will be for affected owners to contact a BMW Approved Retailer at the earliest opportunity to have the recall work scheduled.

What does it cost to have recall work completed?
There is no charge for rectification of work directly associated to a recall. In addition to any recall work your BMW Centre is compelled to complete a free 15 minutes vehicle health check on every vehicle.
What if my car is imported and was not first-registered in the UK?
If your vehicle has been imported, please contact BMW Customer Information Services (0800 777 114) with details of your full vehicle chassis number
