THE NEW BMW 3.0 CSL.

Introducing the new BMW 3.0 CSL – a masterpiece of engineering that embodies 50 years of racing passion. First built in the 1970s, the new model combines the best of five decades of racing expertise, bringing together exterior elegance, a sportscar cockpit, intelligent lightweight construction, a straight six-cylinder engine, manual transmission and rear-wheel drive.

The new BMW 3.0 CSL is strictly a limited edition. To celebrate 50 years of BMW M, only 50 consecutively numbered units will go on sale.

CSL: A RECIPE FOR SUCCESS.

Standing for 'Coupe, Sport, Lightweight', the new BMW 3.0 CSL is a perfect combination of aerodynamic proportions, intelligent lightweight construction and, thanks to wide wheel arches, an accentuated coupe silhouette. Other performance enhancing design details include a front spoiler, air bars on the front side panels and a roof spoiler.  What's more, the team at BMW M have kept weight down to an absolute minimum. This is achieved specifically in the body and chassis areas, where carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) is used extensively, while insulating materials are kept to a minimum.

NEW GENERATION M POWER.

The new BMW 3.0 CSL is the most powerful straight six-cylinder engine with direct injection ever used in a BMW model.  The sporty driving experience is heightened through classic rear-wheel drive, which is supported by refined suspension technology and also a re-imagined rear wing that increases rear wheel grip. To complete the racing feel, driver and front passenger sit in sophisticated M Carbon full bucket seats.

To ensure that this limited edition model lives up to the exceptional high standards of BMW M, around 200 working hours were spent on optimising the airflow and aerodynamic balance of the vehicle, including 50 hours in the wind tunnel of the BMW Group’s Aerodynamic Test Centre.

UNMISTAKABLE FLAIR.

There is no mistaking the new BMW 3.0 CSL.  Like the legendary coupé from the 1970s,- nicknamed the batmobile, it features distinctive air deflection elements, powerfully shaped wheel arches, and a striking rear spoiler,. The four tailpipes of the exhaust system, which are arranged in an arrow shape, give the rear a sporty elegance, while the front showcases pure M style with iconic BMW kidney grille in satin aluminium and yellow BMW Laser Light headlights. And if that's not enough to catch your eye, the side profile boasts forged light-alloy wheels in a Y-spoke design and gold-coloured paint finish.

THE MAKING OF A LEGEND.

The legendary status of the BMW 3.0 CSL comes from numerous accolades acheved on the track. The racing version of the historic BMW 3.0 CSL won the European Touring Car Championship during its inaugural season in 1973 – and repeated this title win five more times in succession from 1975 to 1979.
