PRODUCTION BEGINS FOR NEW BMW M8 COMPETITION MODELS.
25 July 2019
The world of luxury cars is about to get a little bigger thanks to the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing, which has commenced production on the new BMW M8 Competition Coupé, the new M8 Competition Convertible and the new 8 Series Gran Coupé.
With the addition of these three new 8 Series models, Dingolfing will become BMW’s primary facility for luxury vehicles, with approximately 60 M8s rolling off the production line everyday. What’s more, this number is set to grow in size with the BMW M8 Gran Coupé going into production later this year.
Offering supreme levels of luxury and performance, the BMW 8 Series family provides unique challenges for the team at Dingolfing. For example, the standout double-bubble feature found on the BMW 8 Series, which is a carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof, is manufactured in an innovative wet compression process.
What's more, there is also the panoramic glass roof option, which is fitted specifically in the paint shop to ensure a perfectly seamless integration. Clearly, the final quality inspection team at the plant has plenty to do.
