BMW i WOW FORMULA E CROWDS IN BERLIN.

To mark the10th race of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Berlin, the home of BMW i Andretti Motorsport, fans were given an exclusive virtual look into the world of BMW i and its latest innovations and technology developments.  

The BMW i Vision Experience, which had several BMW i activity areas, was the perfect platform for BMW Group to connect with fans over current and next generation developments, delving into fields of design, automated driving, connectivity, electrification and services.

“For the BMW Group, Formula E has been more than just a race series right from the start,” said BMW Group Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt. “In addition to the sporting commitment, we are using Formula E primarily as a platform to demonstrate innovative and technological capabilities."

Here are some of the highlights from Berlin:

BMW i VISION WALK.

The BMW i Vision Walk takes visitors on a journey through the mobility topics of the future that are grouped under the term D+ACES (design, automated driving, connectivity, electrification and services). Holograms and interactive games deliver information in an entertaining way, making the BMW i Vision Walk a truly immersive experience.

BMW VISION iNEXT VIRTURAL DRIVE EXPERIENCE.

Thanks to the Virtual Drive, visitors were able to experience a virtual drive in the BMW Vision iNEXT, due to be launched in 2021. This was accompanied by the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant. This sophisticated mixed-reality installation provided an impression of what it is like to drive autonomously, emission-free, and fully connected in the BMW Vision iNEXT.


BMW i CO-PILOT EXPERIENCE.

Visitors experienced autonomous driving for themselves at Tempelhof, where a self-driving BMW i3 awaited. Those who attended used a smartphone to call the car over, autonomously drive through an obstacle course, and finally watch as it then parks and manoeuvres by itself.
