Since starting his career in go karting at the age of eleven, Tom Oliphant has enjoyed a successful rise up the motorsport ladder to his current position as a front-runner in the British Touring Car Championship with Team BMW. Initially graduating from karting into single-seaters, the Cheshire born racer soon settled in GT competition. A two-year spell in the Ginetta GT4 SuperCup culminated in a superb title victory in 2015, before he secured multiple podium finishes in Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
Throughout this period Tom also completed two Masters’ degrees from Warwick University, Automotive Engineering and Business Management, and now successfully runs a PR and Marketing firm alongside his racing. A move into the BTCC came in 2018 and following a strong first campaign, he joined Team BMW last year. He immediately impressed with a podium finish at Donnington Park in only his fourth race behind the wheel of the BMW 330i M Sport.
The 29-year-old followed that up with a career best second place finish at his home circuit of Oulton Park to cement his status as a rising star in the championship, with a maiden race victory and a challenge at the top of the standings his ambition for 2020.
